One of the four major goals of the OPPA is to advocate for our patients and our profession. We do this through the work of our Government Relations Committee, our Council, our external lobbyists with Capitol Consulting Group, and our Executive Director, who is a registered lobbyist and individual members at the grassroots level.
Our advocacy positions can range from monitoring, interested party, support, active support, opposition and active opposition, depending upon the nature of the subject and the impact that the proposed legislation will have on our patients and our profession.
Ohio's 129th General Assembly (Jan. 1, 2011 to Dec. 31, 2013) is underway and the OPPA is working on the following bills/issues:
