Committee Seeks Your Input

Since the last OPA Council meeting, the committee has solidified its membership, OPA has sent appointment letters to members, welcome and information has been shared with members, and a first draft made of potential aspects of committee focus. In the upcoming months, members will provide input for their conceptual addition/deletion/change to draft initial goals and objectives.

The members will consider the following potential aspects of committee focus:

Internal OPA Electronic goals include:

  • Provide information and assistance to OPA members
  • Computer literacy assistance for OPA members
  • All OPA members be encouraged to obtain email addresses
  • Inservices re electronics
  • Survey members electronic needs
  • Collaborate with OPA program chair regarding inservice on electronics
  • Demo computers for email and web use at conference meetings
  • Budget issues: contract listserv for committee members?
  • Web issues: home page, OPA mission/vision/values, OPA contact info, Public info, FAQ re OPA/psychiatry, resources re MI, referral direction, Links
  • Web management
  • Determine web site needs of OPA members; define goals and parameters of web site, preserve web site simplicity, ease of management, ease of access; determine maintenance logistics/timeframe; determine confidentiality/release of information issues of web resource member information; email addresses; determine maintenance procedures to keep current, given high turnover of addresses
  • Address confidentiality issues (i.e., email addresses for members, etc)

External OPA collaboration for linkage goals:

  • APA, other psychiatry, OSMA, AMA, Media, Public general assistance and information
  • Collaborate with medical training/psychiatry training to promote electronics in curriculum

As we continue to pioneer in the arena of electronics in psychiatry, the committee welcomes input from any of the membership regarding the above.
