Candidate for Secretary
By Alice Hale, M.D.
Position statement
I was much honored to be asked to run for secretary for the Ohio Psychiatric Society. I believe in the purpose of this organization and have enjoyed serving in other positions: representative to the ODMH Advisory Committee, Secretary to the OPA, and representative from the Columbus Chapter, the P, S, C. O. This organization serves important functions for every psychiatrist in this state. Without it and organizations like NAMI, no one would represent our patients' and our professional interests in government proceedings. The promotion of ethical standards might fall by the wayside. The profession could deteriorate to become a part of another specialty.
We need this organization. We need new members. We also need more of our current members to serve in officer positions. While I welcome your vote; I also heartily support my opponent who is a newcomer to running for an Executive Council seat.
